My top tips for starting university this September

Hi everyone, as it is that time of year again when some of you will be going back to university and many of you will be starting for the first time. In four weeks time i will be starting my Masters degree and i would like to share with you all my top tips and things i wish i had known before starting university.

My top tips:
Use Facebook - join groups and societies online to get to know some people before you arrive and to keep up to date with upcoming events.
♥ Join as many clubs and societies as you can
♥ Keep on top of lecture notes and uni work, always do the recommended reading
♥ If you are travelling in by car make sure you have a plan for what to do if the weather turns bad, (i nearly got stuck in 10ft of snow on the day of an exam).

For those of you who plan on living on site in halls of residence here are some tips i have for you.

Plan your journey before hand- so many people when coming to Bangor university, see the sign for "prifysgol Bangor" and they think they have turned up to the wrong university- Welsh is first on our sign posts. Do you research before you start out and make sure you have a back up in case the SatNav breaks down.

Bring some food and drinks with you to share, there is never a better ice breaker than food is there. Crisps and bottles of pop are always a good option.

Plan what clothing you take carefully, living here in Wales there isn't much point in packing lots of summery dresses, you'r much better with a rain coat and a big thick winter coat and wellies.

The most important tip i have is to save some money before you get there, in case of emergencies.
